Key features

UPM Office® copy paper is changing its ream wrapper, with sustainable barrier paper made from renewable and responsibly sourced wood fibres - UPM Asendo™. It protects the packaged product without the need for plastic lamination. The traditional plastic (PP) straps on Office® Copy Paper boxes has been replaced with durable, recyclable paper straps (except Korea market). These changes are key steps in completing the journey toward fully recyclable packaging. The ream wrapper is:

Product Highlights

The paper straps help complete the journey toward fully recyclable packaging  

  • The new paper strap is made primarily from recycled pulp, with added virgin long fibres for strength.
  • It is strong enough to carry up to 40kg, more than sufficient for our heaviest copy paper boxes.
  • The strap can be recycled together with the paper box in the regular paper recycling stream.
  • Its natural brown colour not only differentiates our packaging but also visually reinforces our commitment to sustainability.
  • This change complements our use of UPM Asendo™ barrier paper for the ream wrapper, it is recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable—making Office® Copy Paper packaging one of the most environmentally responsible choices on the market.

UPM Office paper recognized by the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL)

The Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) is a labelling program in Australia and New Zealand that provides consumers with clear, evidence-based instructions on how to recycle each component of product packaging.

The wrap logo on UPM Office paper shows the packaging destined for consumption at home where packaging will be disposed of at household kerbside bins.

The ARL logos placed on packaging play a crucial role in reducing contamination in the recycling stream and enhancing recycling rates.
