”We are very pleased that our training programme once again attracted interest from this many applicants, not to mention the positive attention the application programme has gained on social media. We have received numerous great applications, and we would like to thank all applicants for applying. All applicants will receive a personal reply and info on the progress of the selection process for their chosen area,” says Kai Latvala, HR Manager responsible for the training programme.
Processing the numerous applications is a lengthy process with many phases. The selection process will then progress to interviews and aptitude tests in the autumn. The final selections will be made in January, with the training programme launching in March 2015. There are approximately 50 open positions in the training programme across the three mills.
Last winter, the training programme adhering to the new model of apprenticeship training saw 39 people start their training at Kymi and Kaukas. The application process, now concluded, is a direct continuation of the training that has already been initiated.
The training programme is motivated by the desire to start the training of a new generation of employees before the baby boomers retire.
The programme provides trainees with the abilities needed to work in the processing and maintenance departments of pulp and paper mills and at the sawmill. The trainees will earn a vocational degree for the paper industry or the sawmill industry.
The training is predominantly practical and aims to develop versatile expertise in the various mill departments. The goal is also to increase mobility and co-operation within and between units. Trainees selected for the programme will receive a fixed-term apprenticeship contract for two years.
