(UPM, Helsinki, 14 April 2011 at 15.00) - UPM has collaborated with renowned
international designer Tom Dixon to create a visually exciting book on the
theme of Extremism. Launched at Salone di Mobile in Milan today, the book tells
the story of extremism in design across Tom Dixon's new and existing product
range.

Printed on UPM papers with valued added techniques, the 148 page book uses a
combination of coated and uncoated paper grades from UPM's comprehensive paper
portfolio. Curated by Tom Dixon and written by Tom Dixon's design editor Laura
Houseley, the book introduces Extremism across six image-led chapters.

The partnership involved close involvement between Tom Dixon and UPM to ensure
the right paper grades and grammages were chosen to represent each section of
the book. Strong value-added print techniques were used such as front cover
embossing, cold foil and the use of fluorescent inks - representing the Tom
Dixon design trademark.

“Paper works as the perfect platform to discuss and debate strong themes such
as Craft, Colour, Function, Luminosity, Simplicity and Technology. We're
delighted for the opportunity to use our paper expertise to give the final
touch to this creative process.” comments Kari Ylonen, Director of Marketing
for UPM's Paper Business Group.
