(UPM, Dörpen, September 25, 2007) – UPM Finesse has strengthened its position as the leading woodfree coated paper brand among web heat set printers (HSWO) in the Opticom Brand Equity Tracking Survey 2007.

Already in 2006, UPM Finesse, the paper brand from UPM for woodfree coated papers, was nominated as the top brand among web heat set printers. In the 8th edition of "The Brand Equity Tracking Survey – Woodfree Coated Papers" by Opticom Research International, UPM Finesse reel papers even scored higher in the Brand Equity Index (BEI) and qualified in all seven countries included in the survey. It has thus widened its geographical coverage in terms of branding and has been classified as one of the three true pan-European brands.

UPM ranked as best supplier among HSWO printers

The European web heat set printers also ranked UPM as the leading supplier of woodfree coated reel papers in the survey. UPM therewith confirmed its number one position from 2006. The Supplier Index evaluates supplier satisfaction by taking into account service and other supplier performance related criteria and loyalty aspects.

Among Western European sheet-fed offset (SFO) printers, UPM Finesse has strengthened its position especially in the Netherlands. UPM Finesse also gained a recognisable fifth rang among Central and Eastern European SFO printers, which is a strong result for the brand only one year after its market introduction in Central and Eastern Europe via Europapier.

Based on 170 interviews among HSWO printing houses in Europe, 460 interviews among SFO printers in Central and Eastern Europe and 1395 interviews among SFO printers in Western Europe the Brand Equity Tracking Survey by Opticom identifies the true value of brands in terms of both awareness and strength with respect to perceived quality and loyalty levels.
