(UPM, Helsinki, March 12, 2007) - UPM has today published its Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility Report for the year 2006. The report summarizes the events of year 2006. It discusses among other things UPM's profitability programme, launched in March 2006, and the development of wood sourcing in Russia. The report also broadly describes the environmental impacts of UPM's operations and its practices to minimize them.

UPM's pulp and paper mills' EMAS statement as well as the mill specific supplements, which will be published later this spring, complement the Environmental and Corporate Social responsibility report as regards to the environmental aspects of paper and pulp making.

"Together, these publications and other UPM reports give a clear picture of the impacts the company operations to environment and society as well as the way how we develop our operations", says Marja Tuderman, Vice President, Environment and CSR.

The Environment and Corporate Responsibility Report has been compiled applying the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The report principally includes data on those production units and other functions that were owned by UPM throughout the year and on companies in which UPM holds an interest of more than 50 per cent.

The report, published in English, Swedish and Finnish, is distributed to UPM’s various stakeholders, and it can also be ordered through UPM’s web site and from the company’s outlets in various countries. The report is available as pdf on our web site in English at www.upm-kymmene.com as well as in Finnish and Swedish at www.upm-kymmene.fi. The reports can be ordered by using an electronic form on the web site or by e-mail at info@upm-kymmene.com.
