(UPM, Dörpen, January 24, 2007) – At Paperworld 2007, UPM presents its new range of preprint folio sheets to complement its existing reel paper offer. This product innovation in addition to comprehensive quality improvements among UPM’s postal papers result from the recent modernisation of two of its fine paper production lines.

UPM’s existing preprint paper range, which consists of seven reel papers with different brightness, finish and basis weight options, is the widest selection available on the market. Now UPM adds two folio sheet papers to the range, thus offering sheet-fed offset printers the perfect paper solution for producing exclusive preprinted business documents in small volumes.

UPM PrePremium stands out for its exceptionally high whiteness (CIE 172) and even formation, resulting in excellent colour contrast and consistent print quality. Available in basis weights ranging from 80 to160 g/m2, UPM PrePremium is the perfect choice for exclusive business communication.

UPM PrePersonal offers high opacity for good printability on both sides, while its even surface ensures superior print results and trouble-free performance in high-speed processes. UPM PrePersonal is available in a basis weight range of 80 to 120 g/m2.

“Our preprint papers supplied in reels and sheets and our cut-size and envelope papers have been optimally matched in terms of optical characteristics, so that companies can give their business communications an overall consistent look that is in keeping with their corporate design strategy,” says Martina Schürmann, Marketing Manager, Graphic & Office Papers at UPM, explaining the benefits of UPM’s comprehensive paper offer.

Both of the new sheet papers are available in sizes SRA1 (90x64 cm), SRA2 (45x64 cm), SRA3 (45x32 cm), RA1 (43x61 cm) and in other standard sizes. They are produced at UPM’s fine paper mills Nordland Papier in Germany and Papeteries de Docelles in France, where UPM invested more than 100 million euro in 2006 to modernise two fine paper production lines.

Improved qualities for efficiency in the mailing chain
The modernisations of the two paper machines also resulted in a number of improvements in UPM’s papers for postal applications, UPM Mail and UPM Preprint.

UPM Mail now covers all envelope applications from standard or bespoke envelopes to high-end direct mailing envelopes and laminated papers for protective envelopes. UPM Poste with a broad range of applications and basis weight options, UPM Print offering superior print quality and UPM Prestige, the high-quality envelope paper for messages with that little something extra, now offer clearly improved printing and converting properties to ensure the highest efficiency throughout the entire mailing chain.

UPM Preprint, the versatile paper range for pre-printing transactional documents, letterheads and direct marketing materials, has also experienced major quality upgrades. UPM PrePersonal convinces with its higher CIE whiteness of 164 and increased surface smoothness. UPM PrePremium, the top-quality paper for business communication with high demands, excels in printability. UPM PreLight is a light-weight addition to the range.

UPM’s paper novelties can be seen at Paperworld’s Imaging section, Hall 1.1, Stand E41.
