(UPM, Dörpen, 10 October 2006) – UPM has broadened its offering of forest certification labelled office papers. Future imagetech and Yes Color copy are now available with the FSC label. Both products, designed for demanding colour laser printing and copying applications, are manufactured by Nordland Papier in Germany.
The two new labelled products complement UPM’s FSC and PEFC forest certification labelled office paper range. Yes Gold and Future inktech, both for colour inkjet printing and manufactured by the French mill Papeteries de Docelles, were granted FSC certification in July 2006. The office papers Yes Silver multifunction and Future multitech, produced by the Kymi mill in Finland, have been available with the PEFC label since May 2006.
UPM supports all credible forest certification schemes, such as FSC and PEFC, and is committed to increasing the amount of certified wood used at all of its mills. “Most of UPM’s papers meet the criteria of the major environmental labels,” explains Martina Schürmann, Marketing Manager, Graphic & Office Papers. “However, the amount of certified wood available in the global market is restricted, which limits the availability of forest certification labelled products. We are proud to be able to offer these premium papers with this ecological plus.”

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) is, by area, the world's largest forest certification system. PEFC has endorsed 21 national forest certification systems, e.g. CSA, FFCS, UKWAS. PEFC is an umbrella organisation for the mutual recognition of national or regional forest certification schemes which meet internationally recognised requirements for sustainable forest management. PEFC includes forest certification, Chain of Custody and product labelling. Fulfilling the PEFC standard requires independent third-party verification. PEFC members are national or regional forest certification schemes based on inter-governmental processes for sustainable forest management around the world.
