UPM sponsoring the Ifra´s Cross Media competition relating to the Football World Cup

Millions of fans have been eagerly awaiting the Football World Cup 2006 that kicked off in Munich, Germany at the beginning of June. Some 14,000 media representatives are attending the World Cup, including about 4,500 newspaper journalists.

Relating to the World Cup, Ifra, the world's leading association for newspaper and media publishing, is staging the first Ifra XMA Cross Media Awards competition. UPM sponsors the Ifra XMA Cross Media Awards 2006.

The aim is to present new and successful trends and practices in multiple-media sports coverage. Besides the printed newspaper, additional media channels, such as online, mobile services, special DVDs, books, podcasts including events. These channels must be used successfully as part of a connected special project.

The awards will be presented in recognition of innovative and creative special projects initiated by newspapers throughout the world to accompany the Football World Cup. An international jury will evaluate the submitted entries. Winners will be announced and the awards presented at the IfraExpo in Amsterdam in October 2006.
