Walki Wisa, a part of UPM's Converting Division, will build a converting factory in China to be located in the Riverside Industrial Park, Jiangsu Changshu Economic Development Zone approximately 100 kilometres from Shanghai. The total investment value will be approximately EUR 6 million.

The new factory, Walki Wisa Packaging Paper (Changshu) Co., Ltd., will produce industrial wrapping materials for the Chinese paper industry. Demand for high quality wrapping materials is expected to grow alongside with the country's expanding paper industry. In addition, the new factory will enable flexible production of converted papers also for the packaging industry in China.

The new factory is scheduled to start-up during the first quarter of 2006. Walki Wisa has a printing unit in Shanghai since 2002.
